Engg. counselling: ECE continues to get top preference

HYDERABAD, AUG. 14. At the end of 10 days of counselling for admission to engineering colleges in the State on Tuesday, the authorities have admitted 6,839 candidates in various disciplines.

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) continues to be the top preference of students who have passed EAMCET-2001 with 1,860 opting for the course followed by CSE with 1,486, EEE with 993, MEC 575 and INF 538.

Counselling started on August 5 simultaneously in five centres in the State using the on-line facility for the first time. So far, students figuring up to 8,000 ranks have been cleared by the counselling authorities. Of them, 3,240 have been registered in Hyderabad, 502 in Warangal, 1195 in Vizag, 1249 in Guntur and 762 in Tirupati.
