Gunbattle in Shillong
SHILLONG, AUG. 15. Gun shots rang out in the Meghalaya capital on
Independence Day tonight as security forces fought underground
rebels in various parts of the city.
Official sources said firing between the security forces and
suspected Hyniewtrep National Liberation Council rebels began at
around 8.30 p.m. Gun shots could be heard from near the Raj
Bhavan and in the Rilbong area.
