Youth dies after consuming bottled drink

CHENNAI, AUG. 15. An 18-year-old youth died and another boy was admitted to the hospital after they consumed a bottled drink in a theatre on Sunday evening.

The police said Ilayaraja of Vyasarpadi went to a theatre at Kolathur along with his friend, Meenakshi Sundaram. Both were offered a bottle drink by some strangers.

After consuming it, Ilayaraja vomitted outside the theatre and died on way to hospital, while Meenakshi Sundaram fell unconscious.

The strangers removed three sovereigns of jewellery from Meenakshi Sundaram and escaped. He was admitted to the Kilpauk Medical College hospital.

The Kolathur police have registered a case and are investigating.
