Pak. condemns attack on mosque

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, AUG. 16. The military Government in Pakistan has condemned what has been termed as the second incident of desecration of a mosque in Rajasthan. The reference is to the reported desecration of a mosque in Pander village in Jaipur district of Rajasthan.

``It is a matter of grave concern that the latest act of sacrilege is the second of its nature in the district, within a fortnight. The Government of Pakistan calls upon the Government of India to adopt measures to ensure the sanctity of mosques in India'', the Pakistan Foreign Office said in a press statement.

In another development the Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman accused Indian forces of having stepped up their ``acts of repression and suppression'' in the Kashmir valley. Answering a question at a news conference here the spokesman maintained that the recent rise in violence in Kashmir was directly related to the repression by Indian forces.

``Recently these forces have been given a free license to shoot and kill. Attempts to terrorise the people of Kashmir and subjugate them can only draw strong response from the people who are struggling for their right to self-determination'', the spokesman said.
