Film Review: Hum Ho Gaye Aap Ke

THE OTHER Hindi film release of the week, Ahathian's ``Hum Ho Gaye Aap Ke'', shines in comparison. But then comparisons may not just be odious, they can be downright misleading. Being better than ``Pyaar, Ishq aur Mohabbat'' does not mean the viewers are queueing up to embrace ``Hum Ho Gaye Aap Ke''.

This Fardeen Khan film has Reema Sen making her debut as the leading lady. And from the fare on offer, she has quite a way to go before she becomes one of the leading ladies of the Hindi film world. This mushy tale of love - rich boy, poor girl yet again - is actually the story of a Casanova who cannot sleep without the air-conditioner, cannot travel without a car, cannot spend an evening without wine and women. Every day fall brings him a dainty delight, every new season adds a new acme to amorous affairs. All until he makes a similarly indecent proposal to Chandni. And draws a blank. Rebuffed, he licks his wounds in private. Then fate plays its ace yet again.

The last man standing is our Casanova. Now sobered down, now almost normal. Now open to matters of heart and hearth. Domesticity delights, damsel in distress dazzles. And this time, love blooms. Again amid enchanting locales. This time accompanied by lilting music by Nadeem-Shravan. The initial abashment only stoking the fires of ardour. That is till the proverbial twist is provided by the rich man's richer father. And then...

``Hum Ho Gaye Aap Ke'' makes a slow beginning and then picks up in the second half. But by then many of the viewers would have left this fare from the ``Sirf Tum'' director alone. Watch it if you must.
