Narmada level receding
By Our Special Correspondent
GANDHINAGAR, AUG. 18. The level of the Narmada river, which was
threatening to inundate the low-lying areas of Broach and Narmada
districts in Gujarat, has receded.
According to a spokesman here today, the level of the river after
reaching 19 feet at the Golden Bridge point near Broach, started
receding today due to absence of rains in its catchment areas.
The alert issued to the people in Broach and Narmada districts
yesterday with the river threatening to cross the danger mark of
22 feet this morning, however, has not been withdrawn. But the
people have been advised to keep a close watch on the situation.
