SIMI condemns Advani statement
MUMBAI, AUG. 19. The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)
today termed as ``a part of the saffron agenda'' the Union Home
Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani's statement that the Centre was
preparing a ``foolproof'' case to ban the SIMI for its
``involvement'' in anti-national activities.
``The statement of Advani is barbaric, part of saffron agenda and
an attempt to appease Hindu fundamentalists,'' the SIMI's
Maharashtra zone joint secretary, Mr. Masood Khan, alleged in a
release here.
Condemning the statement made in Lucknow on Saturday, Mr. Khan
alleged that ``the malicious plan against the SIMI is a part of
the RSS gameplan for removing all obstacles for the construction
of a Ram temple in Ayodhya''.
Mr. Advani had on Saturday stated that a demand for banning the
SIMI had been received from several States, including Uttar
Pradesh and facts and evidences were being collected.
