Conciliation process on Enron adjourned

NEW DELHI, AUG. 19 The conciliation process between the Enron and the Centre was today adjourned without both parties arriving at any preliminary agreement over the dispute relating to invocation of the Union Government's bank guarantee by the Dabhol Power Company(DPC).

The Attorney-General, Mr. Soli Sorabjee, who presented the Centre's stand before the three-member conciliatory panel, said,``the talks were adjourned today for a future date to be decided by both the parties. We had a free and frank exchange of views but because of the complex nature of the matter, the conciliation proceedings had to be adjourned.''

Both sides exchanged papers and put forth their views before the Conciliator, he said.

The Enron was represented by the former Union Finance Minister and senior advocate, Mr. P. Chidambaram.
