Photography courses under study

HYDERABAD, AUG. 19. Introduction of degree and diploma courses in
photography in colleges of the State is under active
consideration of the Government, according to Mr. K. Vijayrama
Rao, Minister for Roads and Buildings.
He was speaking at a function organised on the occasion of World
Photography Day by the Information and Public Relations
Department, AP Government, here on Sunday. He highlighted the
employment opportunities in photography since even small towns
and villages now have studios and photographs have almost become
a necessity of modern living.
Prizes were also distributed to winners of a State- level photo
competition, entries for which had been submitted earlier. More
than 249 entries were received for the photo competition which
was based on three themes.
The first prize on the theme `Women's Empowerment' was won by Mr.
K. Vishender Reddy, second prize by Mr. V. Madhav Rao and third
prize by Mr. Ch. V.S. Vijaybhaskar Rao.
The first prize on the theme `Neeru-Meeru' was won by Mr.
K.Yugender, the second prize by Mr. V. Sharath Babu and the third
prize by Mr. K.Ravi.
The first prize on the theme `Literacy' was won by Mr. K.
Yadagiri Yadav, the second prize by Mr. M.Shivasrinivas and the
third prize by Mr. P. Jitender Hari.
Apart from that 10 consolation prizes were given under each
category.
Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Advisor, Film, TV and Theatre
Development, Government of AP, said that the best photographs do
not depend on technology or equipment, but rather on the
photographer's interpretation of a theme. He exhorted the
photographers to focus on transformation of their observation
into photos by creatively using the available equipment.
Mr. B.Rajan Babu, Secretary, AP Photography Academy, Mr. N.
Muralidhar Rao, Copy Editor, New Indian Express and Mr. C.
Yashodhara Rao, Department of Photography, JNTU also spoke on the
occasion.
