Another easy win for West Indies
NAIROBI, AUG. 19. The West Indies beat Kenya by six wickets with
four overs to spare in the second of three one-day internationals
here on Saturday. The Caribbeans now lead the series 2-0.
Kenya, which batted first, succumbed to Reon King and Colin
Stuart and was shot out for 192 off 49.1 overs. King finished
with four wickets and Stuart two as the host gained some
respectability through a 66-run last wicket stand between Kamande
(32 not out) and Ochieng (36).
When the West Indians chased the modest total in the afternoon,
the Kenyans surprised the crowd with their tight fielding. At one
stage, the West Indies was wobbling at 17 for three with the top
three batsmen consumed by Martin Suji.
However, a 91-run partnership between Marlon Samuels and
Shivnarine Chanderpaul pulled the team to safety. Samuels was
bowled by Collins Omondi for 46 but Chanderpaul (87) and skipper
Carl Hooper (33) ensured victory with an unbeaten 85-run stand.
