Jolly Rovers in quarterfinals

CHENNAI, AUG. 19. Jolly Rovers CC entered the quarterfinals in style crushing Indian Airlines by an innings and 108 runs in the MRF- Buchi Babu all-India invitation cricket tournament held at the IIT-Chemplast Ground here on Sunday. It will now meet All India Associate Banks.

Resuming its second innings at 148 for five, Indian Airlines was bowled out for 156 in the space of three overs. Medium pacer L. Balaji picked up four wickets today, finishing with a rich match haul of 12 for 69. Balaji picked up four wickets in the space of 9 balls giving away just one run.

Captain Vijay Dahiya was the first to go with the score at 153, trapped leg before wicket by Balaji for 45. Next J. Arun Kumar was caught at silly point off left arm spinner R. Ramprakash. Sagamdeep Singh too did not last long clean bowled by Balaji. The last two wickets fell at 156. It was a meek surrender by India Airlines as it lost all five wickets for 8 runs.

The scores: Indian Airlines 94 & 156 in 39 overs (J. Arun Kumar 45, L. Balaji six for 35, R. Ramkumar three for 46) lost to Jolly Rovers CC 358, IIT-Chemplast.
