Another naval officer held
By Our Special Correspondent
VISAKHAPATNAM, AUG. 20. The police have picked up another senior
Naval officer on charges of espionage and are interrogating him.
They also suspect the involvement of some more in the spy ring.
Lt.Cdr. Rajkumar, chief of security in the Naval Armament Depot
here, is believed to have admitted that he had even accepted
money once or twice from some agents.
His arrest followed that of Mr. Rajbir Singh, a petty officer in
the INS Circars here, last week. Though both of them belong to
different ranks and units, police claimed a link between them.
The duo maintained some connections with one Mr. Balwinder Singh
Pawar, a former defence employee, who had earlier served a
sentence for espionage. ``Now running a security agency, Mr.
Pawar is believed to be having contacts with the duo and has even
provided funds,'' official sources said.
