Byelection to 2 LS, 8 Assembly seats

NEW DELHI, AUG. 20. The Election Commission today announced that
a byelection would be held on September 20 to fill two vacancies
in Lok Sabha Sabarkantha in Gujarat and Tonk in Rajasthan and
eight Assembly vacancies spread over six States Andhra Pradesh,
Orissa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.
While in Andhra Pradesh, the byelection would be held for Vuyyur
and Siddipet seats, in Orissa it would be held for Rairakhol (SC)
seat, in Maharashtra for Pusad and Dhond seats, in Gujarat for
Sabarmathi seat, in Assam for Titabar seat and in Arunachal
Pradesh for Pakkekasang seat.
An official press release said the notification for the
byelections would be issued on August 27, the last date for
nominations would be September 3, scrutiny on September 4 and the
last date for withdrawal September 6.
