Special trains for Onam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 20. The Southern Railway has introduced
special trains connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai, Mumbai
and Nizamuddin to clear the heavy traffic during the Onam
festival season.
Train no.651 Chennai- Thiruvananthapuram special will leave
Chennai on August 28 and 29 at 11-15 p.m. and arrive at
Thiruvananthapuram central at 4-45 p.m. on the next day. The
return train no.652 will leave Thiruvananthapuram on September 2
and 3 at 8 p.m. and arrive at Chennai at 1-30 p.m. the next day.
This train will have one air-conditioned two-tier sleeper coach,
one AC three-tier sleeper coach, eight sleeper class and six
general second class coaches and two second class-cum-luggage
van. This train will halt at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpet, Salem,
Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palakkad, Ottapalam, Thrissur, Aluva,
Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Thiruvalla, Chengannur,
Mavelikkara, Kayankulam and Kollam.
Train no. 167 on the Mumbai- Thiruvananthapuram route will
depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus on August 25 at 11-30 p.m.
and reach Thiruvananthapuram on August 27 at 6-30 p.m.. The
return train no.168 will leave Thiruvananthapuram on September 3
at 9 a.m. and arrive at the Tilak terminus on September 5 at 4
a.m.. The train will have one AC two-tier, 10 sleeper class
coaches, two general second class and two second class-cum-
luggage van. It will halt at Kalyan, Pune, Dound, Sholapur,
Gangapur, Wadi, Raichur, Guntakkal, Dharmavaram, Bangalore
Cantonement, Bangalore City, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode,
Palakkad, Shoranur, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Jn, Alappuzha,
Kayankulam and Kollam.
Train no.443 on the Thiruvananthapuram- Nizamuddin route will
depart from Thiruvananthapuram on September 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and
reach Nizamuddin on the third day at 5-45 p.m.. From Nizamuddin,
this special will leave on August 27 and 28 at 11-50 a.m.. This
train will have AC two-tier, sleeper class and general second
class accommodation. It will run via. Renigunta, Vijayawada,
Nagpur, Bhopal and Jhansi.
A pressnote issued by Southern Railways here today said advance
reservation for the Chennai and Mumbai special trains would
commence on August 21 while that for the Thiruvananthapuram-
Nizamuddin special will be announced later.
