Nirupama loses doubles semifinals
NEW DELHI, AUG. 20 Nirupama Vaidyanathan in partnership with Yuka
Yoshida of Japan lost to qualifiers Clarisa Fernandez of
Argentina and Rika Fujiwara of Japan 5-7, 3-6 in the doubles
semifinals of the $ 50,000 women's tournament in Bronx.
The Indo-Japanese pair had earlier beaten Vanessa Henke of
Germany and Bryanne Stewart of Australia 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) in the
second round. Nirupama will now be competing in the U.S. Open
qualifying event.
