SC directive to Chief Secy.
By Our Legal Correspondent
NEW DELHI, AUG. 21. The Supreme Court today asked the Chief
Secretary of the Orissa Government to be present in the court on
August 29 to explain the steps taken by the State Government to
implement the model sewerage system in the temple town of Puri.
Referring to the affidavit filed by the Commissioner-cum-
Secretary in the Housing and Urban Development Department, the
Bench observed, ``it is unfortunate that notwithstanding the
orders of the Supreme Court since 1995, the matter is dragging
on.''
When the State Advocate General, Mr. Sovesh Roy, told the Court
that the Orissa Government would file a better affidavit, the
Bench granted a week's time and asked the State to indicate the
steps taken for funding 50 per cent of the project cost.
