Hitch in release of Prabhakar

DEHRADUN, AUG. 23. The release of former Test cricketer, Mr. Manoj Prabhakar, who was granted bail on July 17 by the Uttaranchal High Court in the chit fund case, has run into trouble after one of the sureties withdrew, police said here today.

Mr. Preetpal of Haldwani told the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Nainital, yesterday that he was withdrawing his surety as he was unable to furnish a bond of Rs. 50,000. He said he had agreed to give surety only at the behest of his relatives and did not know Mr. Prabhakar personally.

The authorities in Haldwani sub-jail have sent back the bail order stating that Mr. Prabhakar was never in custody.
