7 children run over by train
PATNA, AUG. 23. Seven children were killed today when the Awadh
Express ran over them while they were watching a track repair
near Chanpattia station in Bettiah district, about 250 km from
here.
The train, running between Muzaffarpur and Bandra, was about to
reach the Chanpattia station when the children, who were
engrossed in watching a machine in operation, came under the
wheels of the train, the Chief Public Relations Officer at
Gorakhpur, headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, Mr. Ran
Vijay Singh, told PTI over phone.
The train driver warned the children by blowing the horn but they
did not hear it.
