Looting case against Bajrang Dal activists?
By Our Special Correspondent
AHMEDABAD, AUG. 23 . Police have registered a case against a
dozen people for alleged looting, but has refused to confirm
wheather they were Bajrang Dal activists as claimed by some local
residents.
The police claimed that even the complaint did not mention that
the attackers belonged to Bajrang Dal. It described them as anti-
social elements who were demanding ``haptas'' (share) from small
vendors.
The local residents, however, maintained that the Dal activists
were raising contributions for the ``Ganesh Mohotasava'' and
attacked the small vendors, mostly belonging to the minority
community, when they refused the donation.
At least 10 persons, most of them Muslims, were injured and three
were hospitalised. The vendors were doing business on the roads
in Vatva industrial area.
Some local residents claimed that they could recognise some of
the attackers as Bajrang Dal activists.
