RJD MP, 10 others chargesheeted

NEW DELHI, AUG. 23. The Delhi police have chargesheeted the RJD MP from Bihar, Mr. Mohammad Shahabuddin, his alleged associate, Mr. Bhupinder Tyagi alias Avdesh, and nine others for allegedly conspiring to eliminate Tehelka.com CEO, Mr. Tarun Tejpal, and one of his journalists.

The chargesheet was submitted in the court of the metropolitan magistrate, Mr. Rajneesh Kumar, about a week ago after completing the investigation into the case, police sources said today.

According to the chargesheet, a special cell of the city police had arrested Mr. Tyagi and five others in May this year on the charges of ploting to kill Mr. Tejpal and the Tehelka correspondent, Mr. Anirudh Bahal, after the portal had exposed the alleged corruption involving several politicians and army officials in fictitious defence deals.

The magistrate has fixed August 31 for considering further proceedings in the case.
