Advanced Alto variant from Maruti

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, AUG. 23. Maruti Udyog Ltd. today launched a variant of its premium small car model Alto. The Rs. 3.77-lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) Alto Vxi will come fitted with the `true response electronic power steering' (EPS) to provide better steering control at high speeds as compared to ordinary power steering.

EPS has an in-built computer which contributes to higher responsiveness of the steering. It also results in lower maintenance cost and is more compact than the ordinary hydraulic power steering.

The Alto Vxi will add to the existing two Alto variants manufactured by Maruti. The company also produces six variants of Zen and four of Wagon-R in the highly competitive B segment.
