Film festival

CINEMAYA'S CINEFAN Asian Film Festival (August 26 - Sept. 2), to be inaugurated by Chief Minister, Delhi, Ms. Sheila Dikshit, opens with the much acclaimed ``Clouds of May'' (Turkey). Its director, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, will be present on the occasion. The festival will screen 55 films at Siri Fort Auditorium Two, India Habitat Centre, and the French Cultural Centre. Its five sections are: Asian Panorama, Country in Focus (Turkey), Indian Comedies, The West Looks at East (European films shot in Asia), plus a Competition section with 12 entries. The woman dominant jury (Pouran Derakhshandeh-Iran; Nana Jorjadze-Georgia; Sharmila Tagore - India; Philip Cheah - Singapore) is headed by Sumitra Peries (Sri Lanka). Special screenings include Raj Kumar Santoshi's ``Lajja''.
