JKDFP chief's charge against Advani

SRINAGAR, AUG. 26. The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) president, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Shah, today accused the Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K. Advani, of being the ``biggest hurdle'' in the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.``Mr. Advani and other like-minded persons at the Centre and in the State are creating unnecessary problems and are the biggest hurdles in restoration of peace in the State andpeaceful resolution of Kashmir issue'', Mr. Shah told a nine-member Delhi-based team of the International Centre for PeaceInitiative (ICPI), who called on him at his residence here.``We want resolution of the Kashmir issue through peaceful means and consider the Agra summit a positive move in that direction'', Mr. Shah said.The JKDFP leader also expressed strong resentment over the extension of the Disturbed Areas Act to the Jammu region and the recent statement of Mr. Advani advocating general amnesty for security personnel.

The ICPI team included Mr. Tushar Gandhi, a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Javed Naqvi, Mr. Nidi Narayan, Mr. Karan Sani, Mr. Gotam Vohra, Mr. Almas Fatehli, Mr. Sandeep Vaslayker and Dr. Amte.
