They teem with life
"MY WORK is analogous with my life in more than one way..." says
potter-sculptor Alex Chandy.
True. "Teeming with Life", an exhibition of sculptures at
Dakshinachitra, Muttukadu, (till August 28, 10.00 a.m. to 7.00
p.m.) freezes the experiences that the sculptor had gathered
"like pebbles on the shores of life.
The tears and laughter are framed in a kaleidoscope... as
fragments of life or as a combination of paradoxes".
After a stint with a design group in Bangalore and exposure to
environmental design, Alex moved to designer pottery and
eventually to sculpture.
His murals, pottery, paintings and sculptures can be found in
collections of art aficionados and heritage centres.
Alex has been running Chiraath Studio Pottery in Cochin for nine
years.
