House raided

GUWAHATI, AUG. 27. The residence of Ms. Sanghamitra Bharali, the
woman who claims to have ``married'' the former Chief Minister,
Mr. Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, was searched by officials of the
Vigilance and Anti- Corruption Bureau of the Assam police today.
Police seized documents of immovable property owned by her,
relating to her Guwahati flat, costing about Rs. 12 lakhs,
another flat at Mumbai, costing about Rs. 20 lakhs, as also gold
ornaments valued at Rs. 1.25 lakhs and passbooks which showed
transactions ``running into lakhs of rupees.''
