The situation aggravated in Gopalganj district where the Gandak river breached its Sallehpur-Tandaspur embankment flooding more than 300 villages in the home district of the Chief Minister. Swirling waters also entered Gopalganj town.

Fresh areas were submerged in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul and Saharsa following further rise in water level of rivers like Kosi, Kamala Balan, Bagmati and Kreh, sources said.
