Zhao stuns Humpy

KOZHIKODE, AUG. 28. Koneru Humpy suffered a setback, when she was shocked by Zhao Xue of China, the eighth seed, in the 11th round of the World junior chess championship in Athens on Monday.

S. Meenkashi, with seven points, moved to the joint third place beating Katarzyn Jurkiewicz of Poland, while Aarthie Ramaswamy held tenth seed Maria Sergeeva of Kazakhstan to a draw. M. Kasturi, though, was beaten by Russia's Ekaterina Korbut.

P. Magesh Chandran bounced back to form in the boys' section with a win against another higher seeded rival, Simon Amutowe of Zambia, to take his tally to seven points, while there were defeats for Tejas Bakre and M.R. Venkatesh.
