Mine blasts kill 10 in Kashmir
By Shujaat Bukhari
SRINAGAR, AUG. 29. Six Army personnel and three civilians were
killed and 12 injured in a powerful landmine blast which ripped
apart a passenger bus at Hangalpau village in South Kashmir
today.
Police told The Hindu that the bus was on its way to Anantnag
from Hapatnar, near here. It was stopped by the Rashtriya Rifles
personnel and more than a dozen of them boarded it. As soon as it
reached Hangalpau the militants, who were hiding, detonated a
landmine.
In a similar blast at Bhaboor in Doda district, militants
detonated a landmine. A vehicle of the Rashtriya Rifles was
totally damaged and a soldier died on the spot.
