Madhya Pradesh was given a special additional allocation of 91,844 tonnes of wheat and 29,437 tonnes of rice for distribution to drought-affected families in 11 districts. The grains will be supplied to both Below the Povertyline and Above the Povertyline Populations at the rate of 20 kg at BPL rates. This allocation will be for three months.

Under the food-for-work programme, Karnataka has been allocated one lakh tonnes of grains (57,460 tonnes of rice and 42,540 tonnes of wheat) free of cost for organising various employment generation schemes in the drought-affected areas through August and September. Kerala has also been allocated 5,000 tonnes of rice free of cost under the same programme.
