Flights to resume
By Nirupama Subramanian
COLOMBO, AUG. 29. The Sri Lankan Airlines today announced that it
would resume flights to Mumbai and Tiruchi from September.
There will be two flights weekly to Mumbai, on Sundays and
Tuesdays, and three flights to Tiruchi, on Mondays, Wednesdays
and Saturdays, the airlines said in a press release.
The resumption will be made possible by the re-induction into its
fleet on September 5 of an A-320 after repairs. The Airbus was
among the three planes damaged in the LTTE attack on the airport,
which destroyed three other Sri Lankan Airlines planes totally.
Direct flights to New Delhi are also expected to begin from
September 2, while flights to Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram have
already resumed.
