Ban on spitting in public places soon

CHENNAI, AUG. 29. Spitting in public places will become an offence soon. The State Government will bring in a legislation banning spitting besides smoking in public places, the Health Minister, Mr. S. Semmalai, informed the Assembly today, replying to the debate on the demand for grants for the Health department.

The Government had announced in the State budget that chewing tobacco, panmasala and gutka products would be banned.
