Flight of fancy


IN ANOTHER pioneering initiative to contextualise content for Indian viewers, Cartoon Network will launch two feature length, 3D animation Indian show, Pandavas - The Five Warriors and Sinbad - Beyond The Veil of Mists on September 8.

This exclusive premiere of Pandavas and Sinbad also marks the launch of Cartoon Network's brand new programming franchise, TOONAMI. TOONAMI will air week-ends from 6.00 - 7.00 p.m.and in Cartoon Network Night Shift on weekends from 9-10 p.m. Produced by Chennai-based Pentamedia Graphics Limited, Pandavas - The Five Warriors and Sinbad — Beyond The Veil of Mists, created using the latest real-time motion, capture 3D animation technology and have been acclaimed internationally as world class animated productions.

Within TOONAMI, the two films will be presented in an episode format and will be available in English and Hindi. Pandavas — The Five Warriors is an adaptation of one of India's greatest epics, the ``Mahabharata.'' With its exotic backgrounds, intricate sets and action-filled battle scenes, the show is broad in scope and grand in conception. Winner of the National Award for Best English Feature Film 2000 and the Second Best Animation Feature Film at the Vancouver Effects and Animation Festival, 2001, Pandavas — The Five Warriors promises to be the perfect family entertainer.

Sinbad - Beyond The Wall of Mists is the story of a beautiful princess Serena who seeks the help of a dare-devil sailor, Sinbad, to save her father and her kingdom from the clutches of evil Wizard Baraka.

Well-known Hollywood actors Brendon Fraser, Leonard Nimoy, Jennifer Hale, John Rhys Davies and Mark Hamill have contributed their voices to the original English version of the movie.
