The week ahead
THE moon is waning this week as the fiery planet Mars moves out
of the spiritual fire sign of Sagittarius. Mars has been moving
direct and retrograde in Sagittarius since February 14.
The passage of Mars through Sagittarius has heightened your
awareness of your spiritual work and has exacerbated spiritual
conflict around the globe.
Mars normally spends two months in each sign. But because of its
retrograde motion, Mars' sojourn in Sagittarius has lasted more
than six months. Mars transitions to the earthy, work-oriented
design of Capricorn from September 8 to October 27. The movement
of Mars into Capricorn will help you resolve an issue related to
your work.
Queries answered
How is "Chandra Lagnam" calculated?
T. G. Vinayaka Rao, Chennai-14.
GENERALLY Chandra Lagnam refers to the Sign having the Moon in
the Rasi Chart: if the Moon is in Rishabham, then Chandra Lagna
is Rishabha. Jatakalankara recommends this method: reckon the
total duration of the birth-star, and divide it into twelve parts
of five "ghatikas" each. Find out in which of those parts the
time of birth falls, and take that part, counting from Lagna, to
find Chandra Lagnam. If, for instance, 26 ghatikas have passed in
the birth-star for one born in Dhanur Lagna, then Chandra Lgna is
in the 6th part, that is in the sixth Sign from Dhanus, which is
Rishabha. "Indu" Lagnam is not the same as Chandra Lagna.
