JD(U) splits in Bihar again

PATNA, SEPT. 2. The Janata Dal (United) split for the second time within a year with its national general secretary, Mr. Magni Lal Mandal, today deciding to leave the party along with his supporters following differences with the party president, Mr. Sharad Yadav.

Mr. Mandal announced the decision to quit the party at the first workers' convention of Jan Sangharsh Morcha (JSM), a group he floated on July 29. In January this year, the Union Steel and Mines Minister, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, broke away from the JD(U) and floated the Lok Janshakti Party.

Sources here say that the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Samata Party are wooing him.
