By Our Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI, SEPT. 2. Ritzbury India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits of Sri Lanka, will play a significant role in India and in the SAARC region, according to Mr. Mineka P. Wickramasinghe, Chairman, Ceylon Biscuits.

Ceylon Biscuits manufactures Munchee biscuits and Ritzbury chocolates and is the largest single group and exporter of biscuits and chocolates in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Wickramasinghe was here in connection with the launch of the company's new product - Tifin. He said the company's plant at Marailamalai Nagar near here had room for expansion and would be able to offer consumer new and innovative products.

Celon Biscuits is looking at purchasing its requirements of flour as well as biscuit machinery from India. ``The company has made big investment in India and is committed to invest in other countries in the SAARC region,'' he added.

The Lankan biscuit major will utilise the Chennai facility to meet its future export requirements.

Ritzbury India imports biscuits from Sri Lanka to supplement its range. It manufactures nine variants of biscuits. The newly launched Tifin is at present being imported from Sri Lanka and is planning to manufacture the same here. Two more popular products - Milk Short Cake and Lemon Puff - will be produced at Chennai soon.
