FIIs and MFs operate in contrast during Aug.
MUMBAI, SEPT. 2. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and
mutual funds (MFs) operated in contrast to each other for
investments in equities in August with the former being net
buyers at Rs. 437.5 crores ($ 92.8 million) and the MFs remaining
net sellers worth Rs. 359.15 crores.
MFs were more active in debt market and were net buyers at Rs.
1,099.20 crores while FIIs remained net buyers at Rs. 64.8 crores
($ 13.7 million).
Foreign funds, however, abstained from any activity in debt for
nine trading days in the reporting month.
FIIs were net buyers in equities for 15 days while MFs were net
sellers for 18 days, SEBI said. SEBI said for the trading week
ended August 31, FIIs were net sellers in equities at Rs. 20
lakhs ($ 0.1 million) and net buyers in debt at Rs. 102.7 crores
($ 21.8 million).
MFs were net sellers in equities at Rs. 53.43 crores and net
buyers in debt at Rs. 16.15 crores.
