Ex-judge of Delhi HC dead

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 4. Mr. Justice S. Rangarajan, retired judge of the Delhi High Court and former Chairman of the MRTP Commission, died in his village in Karur district of Tamil Nadu on Monday.

Mr. Rangarajan, (84) is survived by wife and two sons, according to Mr. Sanjay Parikh, a Supreme Court advocate. Popularly known as `emergency judge', Mr. Rangarajan gave a bold judgment in quashing the detention of journalist, Mr. Kuldip Nayyar, during emergency. After retirement, he was practising in the Supreme Court as a senior advocate till 1987.
