Tech stocks fail to maintain day's highs
MUMBAI, SEPT. 4. Technology stocks staged a partial recovery
aiding the Sensex to close in the positive territory in
continuous listless activity on the Bombay Stock Exchange on
revival of support from institutional investors following reports
of a firm trend in the Nasdaq futures.
Retail investors and the broking fraternity had also turned
optimistic and anticipated some favourable decision on the weekly
carry-forward system in the Securities and Exchange Board of
India (SEBI) board meeting in Delhi this afternoon to discuss
futures trading, market sources said.
The BSE benchmark 30-share index opened steady at 3227.86 and
later fluctuated narrowly rising to the intra-day high of 3246.76
before closing at 3231.60 against yesterday's close of 3227.12,
netting a minor gain of 4.48 points. The BSE-100 index edged up
by 7.58 points to 1527.66 from 1520.08.
