GE Shipping augments fleet strength

CHENNAI: The Great Eastern Shipping company signed a contract for two product tankers of 45,500 dwt each with the Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction company (HHIC) of Korea. The tankers will be built at their Busan shipyard, Korea. The product tankers scheduled for an early 2003 delivery will enhance the existing strength of 14 product tankers, according to a release.

Indya.com ties up with Baazee.com

BANGALORE: Indya.com has announced its alliance with Baazee.com, an e-commerce based auction portal, to provide online auctions platform to its users. This alliance provides Indya.com users with another `compelling experience,' through a virtual trading platform that brings buyers and sellers together and allows them to buy or sell virtually anything in an `'exciting and secure auction format' using the Internet, an Indya.com release said.

net4India's data centre

PUNE: Internet service provider, net4India showcased its state-of-the art data centre facility here. The centre, equipped with a dedicated satellite link, will provide world class web hosting services to Pune and adjoining areas of Maharashtra, the company CEO, Mr. Jasjit Sawhney, said. The centre has been engineered to support services from basic web hosting and server co-location services to `second generation', he said.

Citibank pact with Royal Sundaram,Tata AIG

CHENNAI: Citibank India is offering twin benefit insurance plan to card members - credit shield and personal accident insurance from Tata AIG Life Insurance company and Royal Sundaram Alliance respectively. Credit shield exempts the card member's family from having to pay the outstanding on his/her Citibank cards in the event of cardholder's demise or permanent disability. The personal accident insurance provides a cover of Rs. 5 lakhs for classic cardholders and Rs. 25 lakhs for gold cardholders.

Mohanty, new HAL chief

CHENNAI: Mr. N. R. Mohanty has taken over as Chairman of HAL. He joined HAL in the middle level management cadre in 1971. He became the General Manager of Aero-engine factory at Koraput. In 1990, he took over as the General Manager of Aircraft factory at Nasik. In 1994, he was appointed as a member of HAL board.
