Bangladesh team arrives in Sri Lanka
COLOMBO, SEPT. 4. The Bangladesh cricket team has arrived here to
play an Asian Test Championship match against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh, the newest Test playing nation, has suffered four
defeats in as many games since it won the Test status in June
last year. Last week, Pakistan overwhelmed it by an innings and
264 runs in the first match of the championship.
Worried about the lack of spectator interest, the Board of
Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka announced that the entry would
be free for watching the first five-day Test between the two
sides, beginning on September 6.
Meanwhile, the state-run Daily News quoted Bangladesh Cricket
Board chief Syed Ashraf Haq as saying that his team would not be
down for long.
