Revenue staff to go on strike today
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, SEPT. 5. Revenue staff abstained from work today at
the office of the Chief Commissioner for Land Administration
(CCLA) here, the State headquarters for revenue administration,
and squatted in a mass dharna as a precursor to the indefinite
strike planned by them from midnight of Thursday.
They are demanding an end to `victimisation' by District
Collectors and reinstatement of Mr. N. Ananda Rao, office
superintendent in Visakhapatnam Collectorate, who has been
suspended in connection with the `Defence land scandal.'
The Revenue Minister, Mr. P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, whose talks
with staff leaders yesterday failed, appealed to the employees to
defer the strike by at least four days.
Mr. T. Sudhakara Prasad, general secretary of the Andhra Pradesh
Revenue Services Association, which is leading the strike, ruled
out any such wait and wanted reinstatement at once.
