Prasar Bharati Board to be reconstituted
By Our Staff Reporter
KOCHI, SEPT. 5. The Prasar Bharati Board is to be reconstituted
soon, according to the Union Minister for Information and
Broadcasting, Ms. Sushma Swaraj.
Talking to mediapersons here today, Ms. Swaraj said the
reconstitution of the board is expected to be complete by the end
of the current Parliament session. As the board is an autonomous
body, the Government's role in the affairs of the board is very
limited, she said. Ms. Swaraj was en route to Aranmula for
inaugurating the Uthrittathi boat race.
Replying to a question, Ms. Swaraj said that there is nothing
wrong in teaching astrology at the university level as such
demands had been raised by various sections even from States
ruled by the CPI(M). She parried questions relating to the Kerala
visit of the Hurriyat leaders and condemned Pakistan's attempt to
raise the Kashmir issue at the Durban conference on racism.
