AURANGABAD, SEPT. 6 The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr.Vilasrao Deshmukh, the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Chhagan Bhujbal and other ministers had a providential escape here yesterday when one of the engines of the State Government aircraft failed, leading to an emergency landing.

Sources at the Chikalthana airport told UNI that as the beachcraft developed a snag, the pilot landed with only one engine working. ''We were alerted but this is normal practice and there was no alarm'', the sources added. The aircraft was later replaced.

The Chief Minister and several Ministers were in the city for the presentation of the 'ideal teachers award' on the occasion of Teachers Day.
