New CJ for Madras HC
By Our Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD, SEPT. 8. Mr. Justice B. Subhashan Reddy of the Andhra
Pradesh High Court has been appointed the Chief Justice of the
Madras High Court. Sources said the President signed the papers
on Saturday and formal orders were expected by Monday.
The appointment assumes importance as the Supreme Court has
ordered that the crucial appeals of the Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, in the TANSI and Pleasant Stay Hotel
cases be heard by a judge nominated by the incoming Chief Justice
of the Madras High Court within a week of his appointment.
