Selected for Siva Reddy awards

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 8. The Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences will be honouring Dr. I.V. Subba Rao, Vice-Chancellor of ANG Ranga Agricultural University, Dr. Datla Renuka, Executive Director, Biological E.Limited, Dr.C. Ganguly, Chief Executive, Nuclear Fuel Complex, Dr. Y. Venkatarami Reddy, VC of the JNTechnological University and Prof. K. Vijaya Lakshmi, Gynaecologist, Kamineni Hospital, Hyderabad, for their contribution to their respective fields for the year 2001.

The ``Dr. P. Siva Reddy Endowment Awards for 2001'' were also announced here on Saturday by Dr. P. Siva Reddy.

The following are awardees:Dr. K. Anji Reddy, chairman of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited (medicalman-cum-statesman), Dr. M. Srinivasan, chief medical officer of Aravind Eye Hospital Madurai, Dr. Lingam Gopal, director, Clinical Research, Vision Research Foundation, Chennai (best researcher) and Dr. N. Subramanya Reddy, former deputy superintendent of Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital (best medico-social worker).

The following students who bagged ranks in Ophthalmology are also selected for this year's honours: Jeereddy Bhavani (SV Medical College), A. Vijaya Lakshmi (Kurnool Medical College), Chamarthy R.K. Murthy (Rangaraya Medical College), Pasupuleti Suman (Gandhi Medical College), Mamidala Ravi Kiran (Kakatiya Medical College), Ramakoti Sobha (Kurnool Medical College), Batta Prasuna Latha (Andhra Medical College), Karpurpu Hemamalini (Guntur Medical College), Narra Sri Lakshmi (Osmania Medical College) and Mohd. Javed Ali (Deccan College of Medical Sciences).

The awards would be a given at a function at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on September 12.
