Anushka's book
THIS MATHEMATICS graduate-turned writer will read out extracts
from her latest book, `Excuse me, is this India?' at GoodBooks,
Chennai on September 15. Anushka Ravishankar, who has over 10
books to her credit, has a `special talent' in the area of
nonsense verse. Her critics say she brilliantly adapts the
difficult genre to Indian English usage.
One of her books, `Anything but a Grabooberry' won her a
prestigious special mention in 2000, in the International White
Raven's catalogue of the world's best children's books. In 2001,
her work `Trash! On ragpicker children and recycling' was once
again selected.
`Excuse me...' is a story in verse of travel in a child's
imagination, a work in which Anushka collaborated with Anita
Leutwiler, a Swiss textile artist. Anoushka Ravishankar, daughter
of Pandit Ravishankar, is not the author and is not involved in
the book reading as mentioned earlier.
