NRI problems to be solved: Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 10. The Local Administration Minister, Mr. Cherkalam Abdulla, said here today that the Government was committed to resolving the problems of NRI Malayalis.

Inaugurating a function organised by the Kerala Sahrudaya Vedi, he said it was matter of pride that Non Resident Malayali families were careful in upholding their cultural heritage.

The Minister presented the annual award for the best socio- cultural organisation to the Kuwait-based `Kala'. The award was instituted by the Vedi.

Mr. Thalekunnil Basheer presided over the function. The culture secretary, Mr. T. Balakrishnan, the Technopark CEO, Mr. Rajeev Vasudev, and the Vedi president, Mr. Channankara M. P. Kunhu also spoke.
