Satyam in alliance with Unilever outfit

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 10. Satyam Computer Services has signed of a three-year development services agreement with the European Home and Personal Care (HPC-E) division of Lever Faberge, a Unilever group company.

According to a release, under the agreement Satyam will provide on-site development services to HPC-E at its U.K. site and also create an offshore development centre in India.

Satyam will provide information technology services that include, but are not limited to, computer programming, consulting, software development/customisation installation and maintenance, with particular expertise in computer software, CAD/CAM/CAE, supply chain management, ERP and e-commerce areas.

Mr. B. Rama Raju, Managing Director, Satyam, said this was the beginning of an enduring relationship between Satyam and Unilever. The scope of work allows Satyam to bring a total solution approach to the project including Satyam's RightSourcing delivery model, he said.

Unilver Head of Supply Chain IT Application Centre, Mr. Jan Pieter vd Wittenboer, said the relationship with Satyam started off well and both sides were committed to a long standing partnership. Satyam matched their requirement perfectly, he said.

The HPC-E division is one of six Global Home and Personal Care divisions within Unilever plc. It has a turnover of about 4.4 billion Euro, and operates in 33 countries across Europe employing 9,800 people, the release said.
