Red Hat ties up with STG

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 10. Red Hat, a firm proponent of open source technologies, today announced a tie-up with Software Technology Group (STG) to promote Linux education in India. The alliance is part of Red Hat's efforts to spread Linux education in the country and raise awareness of Linux at the desk top and enterprise level. In the coming months, Red Hat plans to launch several new education products around new technologies.

Students on completion of the Red Hat certified courses will be eligible to appear for the Red Hat certified examination which will be held by certified personnel. Red Hat and STG hope to target over 9,000 students in the first year of this alliance. Under the terms of this alliance, STG will be offering Linux education at 125 STG education centres all over the country.

``As Linux continues to build momentum as a commercially viable platform, there is growing demand for industry professionals with a background and training in Linux system. A lot of universities worldwide are also increasingly adopting Linux and we anticipate the future skills sets to be in Linux. One of the main reasons for our alliance is that STG shares our vision of spreading Linux education and help drive the further adoption of Linux enterprise solutions," explained a statement from Red Hat.

Red Hat's offerings include a Linux operating system for mainframes, servers, workstations and embedded devices. It also has GNUPro tools for developers, database, e-commerce and run time solutions such as eCos and RedBoot.
