Red Hat ties up with STG
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 10. Red Hat, a firm proponent of open source
technologies, today announced a tie-up with Software Technology
Group (STG) to promote Linux education in India. The alliance is
part of Red Hat's efforts to spread Linux education in the
country and raise awareness of Linux at the desk top and
enterprise level. In the coming months, Red Hat plans to launch
several new education products around new technologies.
Students on completion of the Red Hat certified courses will be
eligible to appear for the Red Hat certified examination which
will be held by certified personnel. Red Hat and STG hope to
target over 9,000 students in the first year of this alliance.
Under the terms of this alliance, STG will be offering Linux
education at 125 STG education centres all over the country.
``As Linux continues to build momentum as a commercially viable
platform, there is growing demand for industry professionals with
a background and training in Linux system. A lot of universities
worldwide are also increasingly adopting Linux and we anticipate
the future skills sets to be in Linux. One of the main reasons
for our alliance is that STG shares our vision of spreading Linux
education and help drive the further adoption of Linux enterprise
solutions," explained a statement from Red Hat.
Red Hat's offerings include a Linux operating system for
mainframes, servers, workstations and embedded devices. It also
has GNUPro tools for developers, database, e-commerce and run
time solutions such as eCos and RedBoot.
