Abdulla warns city corporation

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 11. The Local Administration Minister, Mr. Cherkalam Abdulla, today threatened action against the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation for the "shoddy manner in which it has been handling the administration of the city for the last many years".

At a press conference here today, he said some of the recent observations by the High Court and the Accountant General were enough to show how shabbily the LDF administration was handling the affairs of the corporation. He ridiculed the Mayor, Mrs. J. Chandra's "efforts to shift blame on the Antony Government for her ineptitude".

He said the Mayor's charge that some of the key posts in the corporation were being kept vacant was baseless. "The Government does not intend to tolerate the arrogance of the corporation's political administration. They do not bother to provide proper clarifications to even our routine queries" he said.
